In 2021 Mikaela had a c-section due to her daughter, Isabella, being breech. Four hours after she had Isabella she began to severely hemorrhage. She needed medical attention quickly, which resulted in 3 additional emergency surgeries that same day including a life-saving and changing hysterectomy. Mikaela woke up in the ICU still on a ventilator to learn she lost over 4.5 liters of blood and required 32 units of blood product.

If it wasn't for the generous people who donate blood, I wouldn't be here today with my husband to help raise our 2 children or follow my dreams I had worked so hard towards.
