"Blood and tissue donation is a legacy to my family and so I'm honored and privileged to be able to carry that on."
"My uncle has been giving blood, and I think he's over 40 gallons. My mother also has always donated blood and I celebrated my 16th birthday by coming to the blood center and donating blood first when I was eligible.
I recently celebrated my 5 gallon so I hope to be able to carry on this legacy. And additionally my mother gave bone marrow when I was a couple years old to a boy in Chicago. And it's strange to say, but I would be honored to be able to continue that legacy as well.
They always ask me to do plasma so that's what I do now. The treats are great! Treats and chatting with the staff is always inspiring to me, that they choose this as their career, I find that really inspiring. Blood donation is really easy. For me, the biggest argument I can give for donating blood is if you want to be able to give back, blood donation is free and it doesn't take very long. I think I'm down to under 30 minutes on my blood donation, and just a little over an hour on plasma.
So it's easy, it's free, and it's a really good way to feel good and be able to give back!"
