LIFESERVE BLOOD CENTER SUPPORTS PELLA IN PINK TO RAISE BREAST CANCER AWARENESS
Last Updated on September 27, 2024
Pella, Iowa (September 27, 2024) – LifeServe Blood Center is proud to announce its sponsorship of Pella in Pink, an annual event hosted by the Pella Regional Health Center, aimed at raising awareness for breast cancer and supporting those in our community impacted by the disease. Throughout October, LifeServe invites the public to donate blood at our Pella Donor Center to help breast cancer patients during their treatment journey.
To accommodate more donors, LifeServe’s Pella Donor Center will be open additional days during the first week of October, offering extended opportunities for community members to donate. While the Pella in Pink event will continue through the entire month of October, we are especially focused on encouraging donations during this first week.
Breast cancer affects 1 in 8 women, and many patients undergoing chemotherapy, surgery, and other treatments rely on blood transfusions to regain strength, boost their immune systems, and prevent excessive bleeding. Your blood donation could help save a life and give a breast cancer patient the strength to continue their fight.
As part of the Pella in Pink campaign, LifeServe’s Pella Donor Center will be decked out in pink during the first week of October. Donors are encouraged to wear pink to show their support and enjoy pink-themed drinks, snacks, and a pink balloon arch will be set up for donors to take photos after their life-saving donations.
Additionally, LifeServe will feature a special poster board for donors to share personal breast cancer stories, honor someone they are donating for, and leave messages of support on breast cancer ribbons. These messages will be displayed on the board, which will be presented on October 6th at the Pella in Pink event in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This unique tribute offers donors an opportunity to share their connection to the cause and support others in their journey.
“We are excited to participate in Pella in Pink and encourage the community to give blood, especially during the first week of October,” said Mikala Niemeier, Territory Representative for LifeServe Blood Center. “Blood donations are a vital part of breast cancer treatment, and we hope to see many of our community members step up and support this important cause.”
Blood donors do more in one hour than most will do in a lifetime by giving the gift of life! The Pella Donor Center invites the community to join their partnership with Pella Regional Hospital’s Pella in Pink Event and donate blood throughout the month of October.
