• LIFESERVE SUPPORTS AREAS IMPACTED BY HURRICANE MILTON LifeServe Blood Center has sent more than 250 red cells and platelets to the areas being impacted by Hurricane Milton. The blood supply in the hurricane zone is already suffering due to Hurricane Helene that made landfall in late September, lower blood donor turnout and active evacuations ahead of the current storm.
• BLOOD DONATIONS URGENTLY NEEDED AFTER MULTIPLE SHOOTINGS IN DES MOINES Over the weekend, multiple shootings in Des Moines caused patients at both MercyOne Des Moines and UnityPoint Health-Iowa Methodist Medical Center to use more than 150 units of red blood cells, platelets, and plasma. LifeServe Blood Center received urgent requests from both area hospitals following their massive transfusion protocols, asking for additional blood products to treat victims impacted by the shootings.
• BLOOD DONATIONS IN CRITICAL NEED AFTER LABOR DAY HOLIDAY The community blood supply has been strained this summer and into the Labor Day holiday and is now critically low after the long weekend. LifeServe Blood Center is in critical need of all blood types, especially O- and B-.
• FRESENIUS KABI AND AABB ANNOUNCE START OF 19TH ANNUAL BLOOD COLLECTORS WEEK SEPTEMBER 1-7, 2024 Fresenius Kabi, an operating company of Fresenius, and the Association for the Advancement of Blood & Biotherapies (AABB) announced today that the 19th annual Blood Collectors Week is underway and runs from September 1 through September 7, 2024.
• LIFESERVE BLOOD CENTER HOSTS RIBBON CUTTING AND GRAND OPENING LifeServe Blood Center hosted a ribbon cutting and grand opening of their new Johnston Headquarters on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at 4 p.m. The new location is located at the corner of Merle Hay Road and Johnston Drive at 5625 NW Johnston Drive.
• LIFESERVE BLOOD CENTER OPENS NEW HEADQUARTERS IN JOHNSTON, IOWA As of Monday, June 10, 2024, LifeServe Blood Center officially opened its doors to donors at its new headquarters in Johnston, IA. The brand-new location is open six days a week at the corner of Johnston Drive and Merle Hay Road (5625 NW Johnston Drive).

• LifeServe Celebrates 75th Anniversary at Sioux City Blood Donor Day LifeServe Blood Center, UnityPoint Health – Sioux City, and KTIV invite the community to this year's Blood Donor Day to boost the community blood supply and celebrate 75 years of saving local lives. LifeServe Blood Center provides 100% of all blood products needed to more than 160 hospitals across Iowa, Nebraska, and South Dakota, including UnityPoint Health – Sioux City.

While weather often brings cancellations, the need for life-saving products for transfusion and treatment never stops.
