LifeServe and ISP Deliver MTP
Last Updated on March 12, 2025
Wednesday afternoon, we found ourselves in an urgent, life-or-death situation. A patient in Mason city, Iowa, was bleeding out and needed critical blood products as quickly as possible and our local supply in Mason City had already been depleted. LifeServe team members acted quickly to assess our supply across our region to get more for this patient as soon as possible.
Blood products were immediately packed up in Johnston and Cedar Falls for this patient.
With the recent winter storm making roads treacherous, we knew getting those products to the hospital would also be a challenge. That’s when our incredible partners at Iowa State Patrol stepped in to help. State Trooper Nemmers didn’t hesitate for a second. Despite the icy conditions, he made sure the lifesaving blood products got to the patient as quickly as possible. His dedication and quick action were truly remarkable.
This is what happens when our community comes together to save lives. We’re immensely thankful for the blood donors who made these life-saving products possible, and for Trooper Nemmers, whose efforts helped get them there in time.
We’re also very thankful for YOU. This one MTP patient used more than 99 blood products in just a few hours. The work you do every single day is what impacts patients like this. You save lives.
But we’re not out of the woods yet. Due to this recent massive transfusion protocol (MTP), our blood supply levels are critically low. We need ALL donors to come forward as soon as possible to help replenish our supply and ensure we can continue saving lives.
If you can donate, please do so as soon as possible, and help us spread the word. Every donation counts. Thank you for being part of this life-saving family!
